Tanzania’s business capital, heads for a colourful day on June 26th, 2025, when it hosts the 32nd edition of the World Travel Awards (WTA) for Africa and the Indian Ocean.
This will be the first time an African country has staged the prestigious event organised by the World Luxury Media Group.
The Director of Marketing at the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), Ernest Mwamwaja, made the announcement today, June 18, 2025, in Dar es Salaam noting that Tanzania’s selection to host the awards indicates that the country is being recognized and acknowledged globally.
“Tanzania is extremely fortunate to be selected as the host of these prestigious international awards. It is indeed great news for our country. Being selected to host these awards is a strong indication that the world acknowledges Tanzania’s remarkable tourist attractions and the progress it has made in the tourism industry,” he noted.
According to TTB, the ceremony is expected to draw over 500 attendees, including 300 international participants, providing a significant boost to the country’s global tourism profile.
The announcement follows Tanzania’s consistent recognition at past WTA events and aligns with recent national efforts to promote the destination internationally, including President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s high-profile “Royal Tour” campaign.
Fifty Tanzanian attractions and tourism-related businesses have been nominated across multiple award categories.
