Arusha, June 11, 2025 – Vodacom Tanzania PLC has been honored for its outstanding commitment to protecting customer data and maintaining robust Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems.

The recognition was awarded during the annual conference of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association, ISACA, held in Arusha. Presenting the award, ISACA Tanzania Chapter President, Mr. Peter Kisa Baziwe, commended Vodacom for its proactive approach in safeguarding digital infrastructure and deploying qualified professionals to audit and ensure the security of its systems regularly.

“There are many professionals who can build ICT systems, but not all are capable of securing them against cyber threats aimed at exploiting sensitive data,” said Mr. Baziwe. “We applaud Vodacom for leading in this crucial area. As professionals, we remain committed to protecting personal data for the benefit of our country, our institutions, and our families, especially as we continue to adapt to the rapidly evolving digital landscape.”

He further emphasized ISACA’s ongoing commitment to equipping its members with the skills needed to embrace technological change and tackle emerging challenges with confidence and knowledge.

Speaking after receiving the award, Vodacom’s Director of ICT, Mr. Athumani Mlinga, expressed appreciation to ISACA and reaffirmed Vodacom’s dedication to cybersecurity and customer data privacy.

“As a leading communications provider, Vodacom is at the forefront of prioritizing data protection and cybersecurity,” said Mr. Mlinga. “We have partnered with institutions like the University of Dar es Salaam’s ICT College to strengthen digital skills in network security and ensure that we are building a safer online environment.”

Mr. Mlinga also highlighted Vodacom’s continued investment in digital development and the creation of resilient systems that leverage modern technologies.
He stressed that customer data security remains one of the company’s top priorities, given the large volume of personal data processed by its systems.

“Our infrastructure is continuously designed to prioritize privacy, prevent breaches, and support a secure digital ecosystem for all our users,” he added.
